North denies four clubs with 2 ♥. Over that south can show the spade shortage. 2 ♠ shows a spade singleton. Perhaps 3 ♠ showing the void would be better - 3 ♠ is not exclusion as it is below four of our suit. A jump to 4 ♠ would be exclusion. However given no heart fit has been established (from north's perspective), then the partnership needs a clear agreement about which suit has been implicitly agreed.
Here 3 ♥ shows a preference and 3 ♠ is cue. Given the 2 ♠ bid north can tell this is a void since we would not show a shortage then cue the singleton king (we might on a subsequent round of cue-bidding).
The 3 ♥ preference could be made on a 12-14 hand with no spade stopper. With the ♠ AQ wasted north's hand has diminished in value some. However there are still thirteen working points and the ♠ A as a potentially useful pitch.
North needs to cooperate. With four hearts it is easy to take control and find out about key-cards and when one is missing rest in the small slam.
